Lindsay has what I call major cool girl vibes…sorry I mean cool ass woman vibes. She is a professional surfer, kinesiology instructor, world traveler and an overall health enthusiast. She has such a warmth, and kindness. She chases laughter, connection, and fun. How could you not want to hang out with her always?
I admire women who love to be out in the world. She is that kind of woman. To her, surfing isn’t just about the act itself but about the friends, the connections you make in the surfing community. The truest joy in life is about creating just that. Lindsay gets this on a deep level. She takes life seriously enough to know that it doesn’t need to be that serious, that you should dance as often as possible and laugh as often as possible.
Lindsay loves the ocean with a kind of love that seems to exist in her DNA. Taught to surf by her father, her love for the ocean was cultivated at an early age. She talks about going professional as something that just sort of happened. She’s damn good at what she does. She won the 2011 ASP Women’s Longboard World championship and continues to compete and place.
For her, surfing is an escape. It allows her to clear her mind, to focus on the present moment because you have to. You have to be prepared for the elements of the ocean, and it’s unpredictable nature. It allows her to put things into perspective, which makes it incredibly therapeutic. She says nothing beats the feeling of coming out of the water after you’ve surfed, salty, sun kissed, it is the best kind of feeling.
She understands that life is precious. She’s about living the best life you can. This comes from people who understand loss. She lost her mother when she was just a baby and then her father at the age of 25. She said her father instilled in her that life is short and meant to really be lived. She thinks of this often and reminds herself to live life to the fullest every day. That it is always the goal. That even in the mundane every day life, there is an opportunity. Don’t waste it. Live the best life you can every single moment, of every day, right now. It’s an infectious energy she has, and it makes you realize how right she really is.
Here is to another day of a life. I hope you lived it fully.
