Oh, white eyeliner, how I love thee. I fell in love with white eyeliner in my early 20s while watching a certain trendsetting character wear it and look just so dang good with it. During that time (for me), Carrie Bradshaw could do no wrong. If I couldn’t be her, I could at least steal some tips from her.
I emulated her look with a strong shimmer copper-pinkish eveyshadow all across the lid and a thin line of white eyeliner pencil across my upper lash line. I loved this look. I always felt like it was bold and beautiful. Fast-forward to many years later, lots of liners and lots of other looks later, we’re back.
With white eyeliner coming back into trend, I can’t help but feel all warm and fuzzy inside with fond memories. I decided to resurrect this look, but I knew it needed an update.
- I am ditching the copper-pinkish eye shadow—let’s be honest, this is too much for my 31-year-old self. This time I will keep it neutral, soft being the word I am looking for. I picked a sandy colored shadow to wash over my lids.
- Instead of an eye pencil, I want liquid. Liquid looks cleaner on and will last longer. Plus, I want that smooth liquid look.
So what do you do when you are looking for a new beauty product? You head to Sephora. Sephora to me is like Target—you go in for one thing and leave with everything. I found the white liquid liner in their brand Colorful Wink-It Felt Liner in Bone White. Normally I am not a huge fan of felt tip liquid liners. I find (mostly in black) that the liner is less opaque, the color can get inconsistent, and it can be difficult when I want the freedom to make winged ends. But I lost my mind a little for this one in a really great way. The brand has so many amazing, cool colors, like terra cotta and light green (going back for both); the colors looked great on my hand. Sold. This trip, I also ended up buying another one in Baby Blues.
Despite my past discrimination with a felt tip, I think these are great. The output of color is fantastic, they dry quickly so you can layer, and unlike other felt tips, this one layers up nicely. They are very easy to use. Did I mention it’s waterproof too? I haven’t tested it out yet, but I have worn it all day to no smudging, which can be difficult for me. Rejoice!
I’m in love again with this look. It’s fun, easy, and will make your eyes pop. Which is what eyeliner should be doing for you anyway, amirite??
Tip: If you don’t know already, you can use a white eyeliner pencil to line the inside of your lower lash line to make your eyes look bigger. Also, you can use a pencil to re-create this look as well.
